The Bill Davenport Memorial Blood Drive is scheduled for Tuesday, July 31 from 3-7 p.m. at the Englewood Government Center.
Bill served the Englewood community for nearly 38 years in law enforcement. He joined the city police department in 1971 and was promoted to sergeant in 1989. He retired in 1997 but continued to work as a reserve office and then served as code enforcement officer until his full retirement in 2008. He died of cancer in 2011. Bill’s family is holding a blood drive in his name to ensure that those battling cancer or other diseases or injuries will have access to a healthy blood supply.
