Beavercreek donor Bob Langham donated platelets and plasma for his 144th lifetime blood donation on Saturday, Nov. 26 just before the Ohio State vs. Michigan game kicked off. He also entered the drawing for Fran Duell’s hand-crafted “Ohio State Afghan,” and just like the Buckeyes Bob was a big winner!
“I came down to give blood and I saw it,” he said. “It’s just a beautiful blanket. I never win anything but I decided to give it a try. I was surprised!”
Being the proud owner of the OSU Afghan doesn’t necessarily paint Bob in Scarlet and Gray. “Don’t tell anyone, but I went to Michigan State,” he confessed. “But my sister-in-law is a big supporter of Ohio State, she went there and her kids went there. I also work in Columbus!”
Ohio State’s overtime win over rival Michigan to clinch a return to the College Football Playoffs was a thing of beauty for all of Buckeye Nation. But Bob also recognizes the beauty in Fran’s blanket, and her dedication to encouraging blood donations. “Tell her thank you very much,” he said.
